Jonathon has extensive experience in botany and ecology gained from across the country, from the arid interior to the tropical north and the cool temperate south. Jonathon has a Bachelor of Science.
Majoring in Ecology with Honours in Botany obtained from James Cook University in 2009. Jonathon’s honours thesis focused on the population ecology of the invasive shrub, Ziziphus mauritiana. After University Jonathon worked at the Australian National Herbarium in Canberra where he developed extensive knowledge of Australian flora and botanical taxonomy.
In 2013 Jonathon moved to New Ground where he has been involved in projects large and small. Some interesting projects of note include: authored a book on the high-risk weeds of the Surat and Bowen Basins in Queensland, salvage of endangered plants from a proposed development, Koala offset site assessment and developing detailed ecological restoration management plans.
